High and complex prescriptions, made thin and made right

A strong prescription is unforgiving. Choose the wrong frame and the lenses get thick at the edges. Center them a little off and the world tilts. We have spent decades on the prescriptions other places find difficult, and we pick the lens material, frame size and centering together so the finished pair looks and feels lighter.

FAQ

Good questions

What counts as a high prescription?

As a rough rule, anything stronger than -6.00 or +4.00 in either eye, or with a lot of astigmatism. At that point lens material and frame choice start to make a visible difference.

Is 1.74 always better than 1.67?

Not always. 1.74 is the thinnest plastic lens available and is worth it for very strong minus prescriptions. For moderate prescriptions the difference can be small, and we will tell you when it is not worth the cost.

Why do my lenses look thick even with high-index?

Frame size is usually the reason. Edge thickness grows quickly with eye size, so a smaller frame often does more than a more expensive lens.
