How to choose eyeglass frames that suit your face
An optician's guide to picking frames: face shape, bridge fit, eye size, and how your prescription should shape the choice.

Face-shape charts are a fine place to start, but they skip the parts that actually make a frame work. Here is how we approach it when you sit down with Vince or Tara.
1. Start with the bridge
If the bridge does not fit your nose, nothing else matters. The frame will slide, sit crooked, or leave marks. Low bridges often do best with adjustable nose pads or an Asian-fit style.
2. Width before style
Your eyes should sit roughly centered in each lens. Frames that are too wide push your pupils toward the inside edge, which makes strong lenses thicker and progressives narrower.
3. Then contrast your face shape
- Round faces: angular and rectangular shapes add structure.
- Square faces: rounder or oval frames soften strong lines.
- Oval faces: most shapes work. Have fun.
- Heart-shaped faces: lighter bottoms and rimless styles like Silhouette balance a wider brow.
4. Let your prescription vote
Strong minus prescriptions look best in smaller frames with thicker rims that hide edges. Progressives need enough lens height for all three zones. This is where an experienced optician earns their keep.
5. Wear it for a minute
Look away from the mirror, then look back. The frame that still feels like you is usually the one. Browse some of what we carry on our frames page, then come try them on.
